In the past 50 years, James E. Taylor has provided a variety of professional services including Standard Architectural Services, Feasibility Studies, Interior Space Planning and Design, Urban Planning, Construction and Project Management Services, Expert Witness for Litigation in the Circuit and Federal Court Systems, Historic Facility Renovation and Financial Evaluation, and American Disability Act Programming and Seminars.

Mr. Taylor began as a staff architect with the Third Army Special Services, responsible for over twenty Military Recreational facilities on eight Army Posts throughout southeast areas of the U.S.  Upon his discharge he was employed by the firm of Kivett, Myers, and McCallum Architects/Engineers (i.e., presently HNTB), where he served as project architect.  In 1960, Mr. Taylor joined the architectural firm of Edward W. Tanner and Associates, where he served as an Associate until 1967.  During this period, Mr. Taylor was responsible for various architectural designs for J.C. Nichols Company, including various shopping centers in the Kansas City Metro area, apartment complexes, office buildings and industrial facilities.  Additionally, he was the Project Architect and Construction Administrator for various Shawnee Mission School District projects, Nallwood Junior High, South High School, as well as the original campus and building for Missouri Southern University.  This firm was also responsible for the architectural design of various renovation projects, both commercial and residential for the Country Club Plaza, retail stores, high-rise and garden-type apartment complexes and collegiate facilities.

In 1967, Mr. Taylor resigned from the Tanner Firm to form The James E. Taylor & Associates, Inc. which has provided Architectural, Construction and Project Management services for their clients for the past thirty-eight years.  These services provide exceptional building design input, construction budgeting and cost control.  This has been exemplified by projects such as Halls Plaza Department Store, Starlight Amphitheater, Milgram's Food Company, Dick Smith Ford, Southeastern Public Service, Western Resources, Hallmark Cards, State of Missouri and other commercial and institutional construction projects.  The Construction Management services along with Real Estate related services are now being provided through JET & Associates, L.L.C.

JET & Associates, L.L.C., a WBE firm, has a contract staff of construction specialist together with registered Architects and Engineers, i.e. James E. Taylor Design Group, P.C.'s staff, who by their experience in Building Design and Construction Methods and Means can clearly communicate with the owner's Architects and Engineers for most projects.  Their professional knowledge and experience can aid the Design Firm during the preparation of Schematic Designs through the Contract Document Phase by projecting cost of construction, value engineering evaluation, site construction strategy, schedules of tasks and events, etc.

Mr. Taylor has served as a Member and Chairman for the Board of Zoning Adjustment for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, President of Verona Hill Subdivision Homes Association, Chairman of the Red Bridge Planning Committee.  Recently, he has served on the Public Works Board, Parks and Recreation Committee, Planning Commission for the City of Leawood, Kansas as well as the Blue Valley Parks and Recreation Facilities Committee.  He has served multiple elected terms to the Leawood City Council.
